Welcome to this week's edition of the Magic Minutes! We're excited to share the latest happenings and updates from our school community to keep you informed and engaged.

It’s been a fun and meaningful week at Merrimac!

On Monday, we conducted a lockdown drill during passing time. Students and staff did a wonderful job remaining calm and following directions, and we are proud of how seriously our community takes school safety.

On Tuesday, we celebrated our December Citizens of the Month, recognizing students who showed gratitude through their actions and kindness toward others. We are so proud of these students and the positive examples they set each day.

Tuesday was also National Rubber Ducky Day, and we had a little extra fun! Students and staff wore yellow or duck-themed clothing, and rubber ducks with special messages were hidden in classrooms. A big thank you to our school media specialist, Mrs. Martinez-Sabella, for creating such a joyful surprise.

Our 8:1:1 classes enjoyed a community-based learning trip to Outback, where students practiced real-life skills like ordering from a menu, dining in a restaurant setting, and socializing with peers and staff.

Behind the scenes, our staff spent time collaborating and planning to ensure all students continue to receive the support they need to be successful.

We’re wrapping up the week with Superhero Day on Friday, and we can’t wait to see our Merrimac superheroes shine!
