Sachem Students Learn Fire Safety from Local Heroes During Fire Prevention Month
Throughout October, Sachem students across the district are learning valuable lessons in fire safety and emergency preparedness thanks to the incredible men and women of our local fire departments.
Firefighters from departments including Holbrook, Holtsville, Farmingville, and Ronkonkoma have been visiting Sachem’s elementary schools as part of Fire Prevention Month, spending time with students to educate, inform, and inspire the next generation about safety and community service.
During these visits, students have learned about fire prevention strategies, emergency response procedures, and the importance of having family safety plans. They’ve also enjoyed hands-on demonstrations with fire trucks, gear, and equipment, experiences that make these lessons both memorable and fun.
Volunteers are sharing stories from the field, emphasizing the importance of fire alarms, evacuation drills, and calling 911 in the event of an emergency. The visits leave a lasting impression on students, who proudly thanked their local heroes for their bravery and dedication.
Sachem extends its heartfelt appreciation to all first responders who continue to protect and serve our community with such commitment and care. Their partnership helps ensure our schools remain safe, informed, and inspired.
