What a fantastic and full week at Merrimac!
We wrapped up last Friday evening with our Talent Show, and our students truly shined. A big thank you to our PTA for hosting the event at Seneca, the auditorium looked beautiful, and to our staff for joining in the fun with a Lost and Found Fashion Show number that had everyone smiling.
Our PTA also sponsored the Book Fair and spring pictures this week, which brought lots of excitement to our building. Thank you, as always, for your continued support in making these events so special for our students.
In recognition of World Autism Awareness, many students and staff wore blue and took time to reflect on the importance of inclusion, acceptance, and kindness toward others.
We also celebrated Administrative Professionals Day by recognizing our incredible main office team. Their hard work, care, and dedication keep Merrimac running smoothly each and every day.
Students who participated in the Ducks Game performance did an amazing job, and we are so grateful to Ms. Degenhardt for her leadership.
Field trips were in full swing, with third grade visiting Safety Town and second grade heading to Sweetbriar Nature Center for the “Treasures of the Rain Forest” program, great experiences that bring learning to life. Some of our students enjoyed a bowling trip, building important life and social skills.
We are also very proud to share that fourth grade student Casie Callaci was recognized by the Suffolk County Legislature’s Office for winning this year’s Bicycle Safety Poster Contest. Thank you to Mrs. Motroni for promoting this opportunity in art class, and to Mrs. Motroni and Ms. Guider for supporting Casie at the recognition ceremony.
It has truly been a wonderful week filled with learning, creativity, and school spirit!
